Pendulum (Original) MyFreeCopyright.com Registered & Protected

It's like closing your eyes
And spinning,
And at the moment
Precisely when you open your eyes,
You're lost.
No way home.
Because you've lost it.
The path seems
Like an obstruction, itself.
Asking for directions,
People's words
Are like a whole new language.
It's difficult to find way,
It's a crowded place,
With people,
The kind that wants you elsewhere.
Their desires are marked
When they see you leave,
To never return
And leave the place for good.

-Erick Flores

I originally wrote this poem exactly two years ago (10/27/2009). It always reminds me of the times when we sometimes wander aimlessly as a result of other people affecting our decisions. Of course, there are other messages that I am sure will speak to you. Feel free to share your experiences. Thank you for reading!

  1. Erick,
How did you do this piece? I have had this subject matter in my mind for weeks now and you said it quite eloquently and to the point. I really have enjoyed reading you and hope you will continue to write. Always go with love in your heart and you won't go wrong. Wonderful poem.

  2. Mr. Evans,

It is interesting that you ask that question. Sometimes I read a poem I wrote, and I feel like it has so much to offer. To be honest with you, I write my poems when my heart desires to write them. I never force them out. As I write, the words flow, like plucking a string on a bass, the sound is consistent. Consistency is key. I always sit alone, and ponder the possibilities. My mood also contributes. Sometimes listening to music helps with many inspirations. Thank you for asking. Yes, love is always important. Even when we feel like we should be feeling hate, we should embrace love. Jesus tells us that we should also love our enemies as we love our friends. Blessings to you and your family!
